Demänovská Valley is a popular summer destination for cyclists. Road cycling enthusiasts tackle the steep asphalt climb toward Biela Púť, while mountain bikers explore the trails of the Low Tatras. And for adrenaline seekers, there’s a downhill bike park right in the Jasná resort—one that beginners can enjoy too.
What is downhill?
Simply put, you take your bike up the mountain by lift and ride back down on a purpose-built trail. No long, exhausting climbs. Instead, you get an adrenaline-filled descent at your own pace, tailored to your skills and experience.
In Jasná, bikes are transported by the A6 gondola from Biela Púť to Priehyba. From there, the trails lead back down to Biela Púť. You’ll need a BIKE ticket to take your bike on the lift, but access to the bike park itself is free.

Flow Trail or Sport Trail?
The Flow Trail is the better choice for beginners. It has a gradient of around 7% and features smooth turns and other elements that let you gradually build up your basic skills. If it’s your first time riding downhill, start here.
The Sport Trail is significantly more challenging, with a gradient of around 17%, faster sections, and more technical features. It’s best to tackle this one once you’ve mastered the basics. Both trails start at Priehyba and finish at Biela Púť. Riding a bike down Chopok outside the designated trails is not permitted.

What Do You Need for Your First Downhill Run?
You don’t need to buy your own downhill bike right away. At Biela Púť, you can rent both a bike and protective gear.
The essentials are:
- a helmet, ideally a full-face model,
- knee and elbow pads,
- full-finger gloves,
- sturdy shoes,
- clothing that allows you to move freely.
On your first run, don’t worry about going fast. Keep your pedals level with your knees slightly bent, look where you want to go, and brake before a corner rather than in the middle of it. If you’re not sure about your technique, an instructor can help you get started.

Straight from the trail to lunch
One of the biggest advantages of Hotel Družba is its location. The lower section of the Flow Trail runs right alongside the hotel, so after your run, there’s no need to look for parking or get back in the car. At the Folk Restaurant, you can grab a tasty lunch and a drink, take a break, and then head straight back out onto the trail.
If you’re looking for accommodation in Demänovská Valley near the Jasná Bike Park, Družba makes a great base. Head out to the trails in the morning, come back for lunch during the day, and after your final run, you’ll be back at the hotel in no time. On top of that, you’ll have countless opportunities for hiking, relaxing in the hotel wellness center, and enjoying everything else the resort has to offer.
